Spellbound The Spellwright Trilogy Author s: Spellbound is a fun, exciting read, one that deserves the attention and more of its predecessor. Sep 14, Ranting Dragon rated it it was amazing Shelves: I loved every part of this book, because the author didn’t underestimate the intelligence of his readers. He writes beautifully about new vistas and places. What if there is a constant tension between those systems that teeters on the brink of open warfare? Spellbound is one of the best fantasy books I’ve read this year.

In this case, the second novel is so much better than the first.

In my opinion both main characters are three-dimensional and believable fantasy characters. It makes me wonder what he’ll explore in the last book of the trilogy, Spellbreakerwhether it is again something connected to speolbound real-life experiences or whether it’ll move away from those. It just got a bit chzrlton down in explanations and that slowed things in places.

However… We see Nicodemus in the beginning of the novel, but then only sparingly until about two-thirds through when he steps up his game and plays more of a major role in the story. I don’t claim any vast and intimate knowledge of fantasy as a literary genre, but I’ve read enough to draw my own semi-informed conclusions. Blake Charlton is now a proud dyslexic, but as a boy he hated the condition that kept him effectively illiterate. If you love fantasy and haven’t begun this series you’re missing out.

In de afgelopen tien jaar heeft Nicodemus zich verdiept in de enige taal die hij nog foutloos kan spellen: The plot is interesting, there is intrigue and danger and action throughout. Now, in Spellboundhe’s starting fresh, using his newfound gifts in the dark Chthonic languages to pursue the emerald that holds his birthright.

Unfortunately I had to wait until I got to go Sinterklaas shopping to get it, so I didn’t get to read it immediately on publication, to my great chagrin. Why did that happen?

One particular cacographer seems to be integral to the prophecies Blake is currently studying at Stanford Medical School. I liked how sweet they were around each other, especially at the end, but I can’t help but feel like everything was a bit too rushed. I suspect that a lot of things will fall into place when that happens.

Blake Charlton is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the fantasy world. Ten years later he graduated summa cum laude from Yale University. My English might have improved somewhat since reading the first book since I had way less trouble with difficult words appearing – then again many tend to be based on Roman languages, so it’s not that hard.

Traditional fantasy is at its best — like it is in this book — fantastic and thrilling entertainment and it shouldn’t be overlooked. Charlton chooses to go with a blaks new perspective in this book, that of physician Francesca Dpellbound Vega. Spellwright features a unique system of magic and characters that are genuine inhabitants of that world.

Although I hardly understood most of what was going on, and how exactly the charllton looked like or reacted, it didn’t stop me from building on what the author wrote and expanding on it within my mind. His world building is better and Spellbound, the second in an epic fantasy trilogy, is far better and more fascinating than Spellwright the first book.

Leaving aside the added bonus of world domination, Typhon genuinely seems to want to rescue his people.

Leandra’s quest to unravel the mystery of the murder-she-will-commit becomes more urgent when her chronic disease flares up and the Ixonian Archipelago is plagued by natural disasters, demon worshiping cults, and fierce political infighting.

Spellboumd in mind, if you were to tell me about how your cat gives you a concerned meow after you step out of the shower every morning, the harm is blale done. Still I didn’t care too much about them. With all its fast paced action, mystery and such a unique magical system, Spellbound earns a place as one of my top books, and I can’t wait to see where Charlton takes readers next. I still find the foreshadowing and pacing weak at times, though much improved.

It just halts you in the flow of the text, but this is just something minor that I notice quickly on whatever text I read. A good way of fitting concepts people are familiar with into the world created here.

Absolutely not to be missed.

I quite enjoyed this book, and the beginning was made all the more better by including a brief synopsis of part of the first book, which allowed me to recall other parts of the story and better place what was occurring in context. I hope this doesn’t come across either rude or fanboy-ish, but I was truly surprised: And, now, I have made this sound like a terrible book, and it wasn’t.
